India, Brazil to raise generic drug issue with WTO |

Brazil and India have decided to jointly take up at the WTO the issue of the recent seizure of a generic high blood pressure drug being supplied by India to Brazil by the Dutch government while it was in transit. Indian trade minister Kamal Nath and his Brazilian counterpart Celso Amorim, who had a bilateral meeting in Davos on the sidelines of the on-going World Economic Forum, said that measures of this nature have a highly negative systemic impact on legitimate trade of generic medicines, South-South commerce, and national public health policies, an official release said.
